It’s OSCAR TIME! The nominations don’t come out until tomorrow, but here are my predictions as well as the films and people I want to see~ holding statues:

- Best Motion Picture of the Year (probably): The Social Network 

(probably doesn’t stand a chance, but it would be cool): INCEPTION

-Best Actor in a Leading Role (probably): Colin Firth~King’s Speech 

(MY pick): Justice for Mr. Darcy!!! COLIN FIRTH please!

-Best Actress in a Leading Role (probably): Natalie Portman~Black Swan perfection usually wins you an Oscar, but we’ll see…

(MY pick): I heart—Natalie Portman.

-Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Christian Bale~The Fighter  

(MY pick): Justice for the Dark Knight!!! CHRISTIAN BALE please!

-Best Actress in a Supporting Role: um… I’ve got no predictions for this one~PASS—

and MY pick? HAILEE STEINFELD in TRUE GRIT!

-Best Achievement in Directing: (PROBABLY): David Fincher for The Social Network…

(MY pick): After reviewing the thoroughly entertaining special features on my Social Network bluray—I will say “sure, why not”

-Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen (PROBABLY AND HOPEFULLY): CHRIS NOLAN for INCEPTION. This is where I’m happy that The Social Network is adapted from something and Inception is completely original as far as I’m aware.

-Best Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced (probably): Justice for the fans of Aaron Sorkin’s cancelled television gems (I loved Sports Night and Studio 60)~ AARON SORKIN for THE SOCIAL NETWORK

-Best Animated Feature Film of the Year: Toy Story 3 (probably—and I have no problem with that)

I have no real predictions for the other categories. It’d be cool to see that Banksy film win for best Documentary~ and as far as Foreign films, I’d love to see one of those awesome Korean multi-genre thrillers getting nominated for once, but that never happens.
